Mark Connelly

The newly established role focuses on the expansion of Rothschild & Co’s Equity Markets Solutions business in North America

Rothschild & Co announced today that Mark Connelly has joined its Global Advisory business as a Managing Director to lead its equity capital markets offering in North America. In this newly established role, Mr. Connelly will lead and develop Rothschild & Co’s strategy for the firm’s Equity Markets Solutions (“EMS”) business in North America.

Mr. Connelly will have oversight of the North American activities of Redburn Atlantic, the equity capital markets execution arm of Rothschild & Co, working closely with Adam Young, CEO of Redburn Atlantic. On completion of the merger between Redburn (Europe) Limited and Atlantic Equities LLP, which is expected in the third quarter, Redburn Atlantic will be a full service, end-to-end Sales, Trading and Equity Research division of Rothschild & Co, providing a full suite of public market equity solutions to the firm’s global clients across significant sectors around the world.

Reporting to Lee LeBrun, Partner and Head of Global Advisory, North America, and Richard Wyatt, Partner and Chairman of Equity Markets Solutions, Mr. Connelly will leverage the firm’s Global Advisory network of 1,500 professionals on the ground in 42 countries.

“Mark is a well-respected strategic adviser who will provide distinct and tailored expertise to our clients, and we are pleased to welcome him to the firm,” said Lee LeBrun. “Mark will join our successful EMS business to expand our range of services in North America. His wealth of experience in public equity financing will bolster our platform and strengthen our capabilities to deliver best-in-class advice and solutions to our clients.”

“Building our equity capital markets capability in North America is a major strategic initiative for the firm, and Mark’s distinguished background will prove invaluable to our clients and the firm as we continue to grow our presence in this region,” said Richard Wyatt.

Mr. Connelly brings more than three decades of corporate advisory and equity capital markets experience to Rothschild & Co. He joins Rothschild & Co after successfully establishing ECM franchises at UBS Investment Bank, Jefferies Group and Nomura Securities over the past 35 years. At Nomura, he built the firm’s cash equity, convert underwriting and restructuring, equity private placement and SPAC capabilities. At Jefferies, he managed a senior team of 10 MD ECM professionals, resulting in over 350 bookrun equity offerings, a nearly two-fold revenue increase and a meaningful expansion of bookrun transactions and IPOs. Before that, he spent over 20 years at UBS, ultimately overseeing equity capital markets across the Americas. Mr. Connelly also served as a member of the Investment Banking Executive Committee at UBS, Jefferies and Nomura. Mr. Connelly graduated with a B.A. in English & Government from Georgetown University.

“I am pleased to join Rothschild & Co as the firm advances its position in equity capital markets in North America,” said Mr. Connelly. “Combining the firm’s proven track record and differentiated approach to serving clients with the full suite of capabilities that Redburn Atlantic offers will further fortify Rothschild & Co’s position as a leading adviser. I look forward to partnering with Lee, Richard and the team to develop and accelerate the expansion of the firm’s EMS business.”
