Donal Smith

Donal Smith is an Operating Partner at FAPI and FACP focused on Data and Financial Technology.

He is a co-founder and Executive Chairman of Credit Benchmark, a credit risk data and analytics provider founded in 2013, backed by Index Ventures and Balderton Capital.

Prior to co-founding Credit Benchmark, Donal was CEO of Data Explorers, a business specialising in securities lending data, which he helped to grow from 2008 to 2012 before it was sold to IHS Markit.  Recently he served as chairman of BI-SAM Technologies SA, a leading financial data services and analytics provider which was sold to Factset in March 2017. He is currently Chairman of Pirum Systems, a financial technology provider of securities finance automation and portfolio company of Five Arrows Principal Investments. He has also served as CEO EMEA & Asia of Thomson Financial, a division of Thomson Reuters, and as CEO of FT.com.

Donal holds a BA in the History of Art and English Literature from University College Dublin.
