Rothschild & Co appoints Simon Thompson as Senior Adviser

Rothschild & Co is pleased to announce that Simon Thompson will join the firm as a Senior Adviser, effective from 1 December 2022. Based in the UK, Simon will provide advice to clients across our Global Advisory division and assist in the development of our client relationships. He will have a particular focus on supporting the development of our Global Mining & Natural Resources and Investor Advisory businesses.

Simon has 40 years’ experience in international business and investment banking, most recently as Chair of Rio Tinto plc and previously as Chair of 3i Group plc and Tullow Oil plc. He worked at NM Rothschild from 1985 to 1994. After a year at S.G. Warburg, he joined the Anglo American group in 1995 and became a Director of Anglo American plc in 2005. Since leaving Anglo, Simon has served on the Boards of companies including Amec Foster Wheeler plc, AngloGold Ashanti Limited, Newmont Mining Corporation and Sandvik AB.
