Edouard de Rothschild obtained a law degree at the French Assas University and a MBA in Finance at New York University. He started his career in 1983 at Wertheim and Co bank in New York before moving to Eurofin bank in Paris in 1985.

He then joined Rothschild & Cie Banque (RCB) in 1987, where he was Managing Partner from 1993 to 2003 and then Chairman of the Supervisory Board until 2004. Expert of the horse-racing world, he was Executive President of France Galop from 2004 to 2011 and from 2019 to 2023. From 2006 to 2014, he was also Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the French newspaper Libération, of which Holding Financier Jean Goujon was the major shareholder.
