Our history
In 1810, successful businessman Mayer Amschel Rothschild (the fourth great-grandfather of our current Executive Chairman, Alexandre de Rothschild) created the family's first partnership agreement. His innovative trading methods added value to his clients by understanding their needs and taking a long-term view. His sons established banking businesses in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Naples and Vienna and created Europe's fastest, network for exchanging market information. Their descendants, in turn, lay the foundations for the globally renowned business the family retains control of to this day.

We remain committed to our heritage of taking bold perspectives. Our 200-year history of entrepreneurship means we're never content with conventional wisdom. As we look to the future, we take the time to understand our clients so we can continually innovate to meet their needs. This is demonstrated by the creation of our financing and investor advisory services in Global Advisory, the development of Five Arrows, our alternative assets business, tailored Wealth Management and Asset Management businesses for different markets, and placing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) at the core of all our business practices.
