Rothschild & Co strengthens UK Regional Wealth Management business with appointment of Director to lead Midlands office

Ben Gulliford

Rothschild & Co’s UK Wealth Management business has appointed Ben Gulliford to lead its team in the Midlands, based in Birmingham, and support growing demand for its services in the region.

Ben joins Rothschild & Co from Barclays Wealth, where he held senior roles working with ultra-high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and family offices, leading teams across the UK, having joined as a private banker in 2006.

Rothschild & Co’s UK Regional Wealth Management presence was initially founded a decade ago in Manchester by Peter Hindle and now totals more than 20 people. Ben’s appointment reflects a commitment to providing bespoke wealth management services to clients and deepening strong local connections beyond London, combining local insight with global expertise.

In addition to the wider professional community, Rothschild & Co Wealth Management works closely with its Global Advisory business, established in Birmingham for more than 20 years. As Global Advisory colleagues guide business owners and shareholders through the successful sale of their companies, the Wealth Management team advises clients on how best to protect and grow the proceeds for their families’ security, through long-term investment and wealth planning strategies.

Peter Hindle, Head of Client Teams, Rothschild & Co’s UK Wealth Management business, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Ben to our team. With over two decades’ experience in wealth management, his understanding of the financial needs of entrepreneurs and family business owners, combined with our respective networks, make him the ideal person to lead the next chapter in our growth story in the Midlands. We continue to invest in our business and recruit highly skilled and connected individuals to deliver exceptional service to clients across the UK.”

Rothschild & Co has invested significantly in its UK Wealth Management business which has resulted in AUM doubling in the last six years, with UK offices now in Birmingham, Leeds, London, Manchester, and Guernsey.

Ben’s appointment follows those of Director, Edward Binks in Leeds and Tom Fleming and Jessica Pearson, both of whom joined as Client Advisers at Assistant Director level in Leeds and Manchester respectively earlier in the year.

Rothschild & Co recently announced that James Morrell would become CEO of the UK Wealth Management business and Helen Watson as Chair, following Helen’s decade long tenure as CEO and working together for over 20 years.

Chris Oliver and Peter Hindle were also announced as joint heads of the front office as Head of Client Strategy and Execution and Head of Client Teams respectively, with Chris joining after 15 years with UBS.
