Rothschild & Co announces the appointment of Lord Sedwill to its Supervisory Board
Rothschild & Co is pleased to announce the appointment of Lord Sedwill as a member of the Supervisory Board of Rothschild & Co. He will also join the Board’s Corporate Responsibility Committee.
Lord Sedwill is a former Cabinet Secretary, Head of the UK Civil Service and National Security Adviser in the United Kingdom. He is Chair of the G7 panel on Global Economic Resilience and the Pacific Future Forum. In January 2021, Lord Sedwill was appointed as a Senior Adviser to Rothschild & Co, counselling the group on its strategic ambitions as well as helping to advise clients worldwide across its Global Advisory, Wealth & Asset Management and Merchant Banking businesses.
Lord Sedwill succeeds Anthony de Rothschild on the Supervisory Board. Anthony de Rothschild will remain as a Senior Adviser to the group and is expected to join the Board of N.M. Rothschild & Sons Limited in November 2021.

Mark Sedwill, Baron Sedwill of Sherborne KCMG FRGS, is Chairman of the Pacific Future Forum, Chairman of the G7 Panel on Global Economic Resilience, and a member of the UK Parliament’s House of Lords. He was Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Civil Service (2018-20), National Security Adviser (2017-20), Permanent Secretary at the Home Office (2013-17), and HM Ambassador and NATO Representative in Afghanistan (2009-11). Before that he had a diplomatic and security career serving in Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Cyprus and Pakistan. He was also CEO of UKvisas (2005-08). He studied international economics at the University of St Andrews and has a Master’s in Economics from Oxford. He is President of the Special Forces Club, and Senior Independent Director and Deputy Chair of Lloyd’s of London. Lord Sedwill is a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and of the Institute of Directors, and the recipient of several awards and honours for national and international public service. He has several charitable interests.
