Energy & Power Investment Banking - Associate

Responsibilities

  • Work on multiple transactions and with multiple project teams simultaneously on all critical aspects of transactions, ranging from client development and initial opportunity evaluation to transaction strategy and execution

  • Lead the preparation of financial and economic analyses and preparation of complex financial models required for evaluating and completing such transactions

  • Use a range of valuation techniques to support client advice including discounted cash flows, trading comps analysis, transaction comps analysis, and LBO-based valuations

  • Preparation of client presentations, teasers, information memoranda and offering documents for a range of transaction types

  • Oversee the appointment and subsequent management of due-diligence advisers, supporting the drafting of scopes, reviewing all proposals, onboarding advisers and then managing the various due-diligence workstreams on a given transaction in parallel, including reviewing draft reports and ensuring key findings are reflected in the financial model as required

  • Presenting key findings of project work to clients across a diverse range of transaction related topics (valuation / due-diligence / market and competitor analysis / bid assessment etc.)

  • Research on relevant industries to support the team’s marketing initiatives, optimizing various sources of information (FactSet / Bloomberg / Factiva / Merger market / broker reports etc.)

  • Contribute content to pitch books by conducting ad-hoc analysis

  • Update industry databases and credentials on an ongoing basis

  • Oversee the onboarding process for new clients to the firm

Education and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree: 2.1 or above

Experience, Skills and Competencies Required

  • Prior experience in an advisory or investment banking role across the Energy & Power space

  • Proven quantitative and analytical skills to develop financial models and valuations with a deep understanding of financial statement analysis

  • Experience leading client presentations, managing projects and the execution of transactions, including leading of several workstreams independently and in parallel

  • Ability to simultaneously manage several projects in an extremely fast paced environment in order to  meet critical client deadlines

  • Knowledge of the relevant financial and regulatory environments that surrounds M&A

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)

  • Ability to provide direction and leadership in order to build a strong team environment and to build effective relationships between individuals, teams and  lines of business, across different geographies

  • Ability to build long-term, professional relationships that add value to the client and lead to the expansion of the business

  • Aptitude for ongoing personal and professional development
