Fergus' Story
Fergus joined Rothschild & Co Redburn in 2024 and is now lead Equity Research Analyst in his team.
“I joined as a supporting analyst in the Energy team of Rothschild & Co Redburn assisting the lead analyst with coverage of the global integrated oil majors and the oil and gas macro. Earlier this year, my remit expanded and I was appointed lead analyst. In terms of my career progression this was a fantastic opportunity. Now I cover six European oil majors and lead on the team’s macro views. Oil and gas remain a very important part of the energy mix, which makes this sector interesting to me.
The fact that no two days are the same is very exciting, and Rothschild & Co Redburn is a very unique place to work."
We are given intellectual freedom to do deep-dive industrial work. Our research is never just about quantity – it’s about precision, conviction, and helping clients to make smarter decisions.
The other aspect I enjoy is the travel, for example, earlier this year I went to Munich with one of the companies I cover, and I was also recently in Paris and Geneva, marketing our views. It’s also a great way to build and maintain relationships.
My advice for anyone joining Rothschild & Co is to make the most of the opportunities on offer.
