Toby's story
Toby joined Rothschild & Co's Global Advisory business in London as an Analyst over eight years ago. He is now a Director based in New York, having moved there in 2021.
I started work at another bank for a year and then joined Rothschild & Co as a second year Analyst in the Healthcare Group. I spent three or four years in London and then moved to the US at the end of 2021 and have been there ever since.
Most of my job is client coverage, looking for new opportunities where we may be able to give advice to a client on a transaction or a potential transaction they’re considering. We also support our global colleagues on business they may be doing in or out of the US. It’s great to have a chance to network globally, whether it be across Australia, Europe or the Middle East.
People are really focused on giving trust and responsibility to you at a very early stage in your career."
Once the client starts calling you directly and trusting you, that’s when you know that you have certain level of responsibility. That obviously increases as you get more senior, but it's a very nice feeling.

The amount of time that I, as a Director, and other Managing Directors spend mentoring people, and the way it transforms Associates and Analysts and helps them progress, really pays dividends."
