Majid's story
In 2000, Majid joined Rothschild & Co and is now a Partner and Co-Head of UK and Global Head of Retail, Leisure and Sport within our Global Advisory business in London.
"The career journey over 24 years has been fantastic and it's evolved and it's got broader and broader as we've got bigger and bigger.
It is a very unique culture and that culture is at the heart of everything we do.
How would I describe the culture? I think the key thing for me still is excellence in terms of what we do at the very top of our business, but doing it in a manner where at the same time you’re bringing your colleagues along and you’re doing it with the right values.
The perception from the outside is that we are quite conservative. You'd be very surprised when you get here as to how different we are to that.
There is no standard person. And I think if you are capable, driven, you will always be given the opportunity and the support to succeed."
The place has always been meritocratic and it should be meritocratic, irrespective of who you are, what your background is, what your gender is, what your sexuality is, what your ethnicity is. And so the opportunity to grow in a place like this and be much more entrepreneurial than in other places is massive, and you get amazing support.
It's that continual interaction with a pool of people that are extremely talented and highly driven and really at the top of their field and to have fun with at the same time."
