Rothschild & Co today announced that David Mell has joined its Global Advisory business as a Managing Director in the Consumer Retail sector. Mr. Mell brings over two decades of investment banking and advisory experience to Rothschild & Co, where he will help lead coverage of clients and deals in the retail and connected commerce space. Mr. Mell will report to James Ben, North America Head of Consumer and North America Head of M&A, and work closely with both Majid Ishaq, Global Head of Retail and Akeel Sachak, Global Head of Consumer.

“As an accomplished strategic advisor, David has a long and successful track record working with clients in the retail sector and is a proven and respected leader in the industry. His extensive experience working across the industry and its supply chain, for established, emerging and disruptive companies, will ensure we continue to provide experienced counsel and innovative ideas for our clients,” said James Ben. “His hiring continues our commitment to the sector and expanding our group’s presence and seasoned team in North America and around the world.”

“David’s expertise enhances our franchise’s connectivity with the Rothschild & Co global platform and further strengthens our ability to provide differentiated advice on cross-border and cross-industry convergence transactions,” said Majid Ishaq.

Prior to joining Rothschild & Co, Mr. Mell was a Managing Director in the Consumer & Retail Investment Banking Group at RBC Capital Markets. He joined RBC Capital Markets in New York in August 2016, and in this role, was responsible for leading the coverage of the Retail and Connected Commerce sectors in the U.S. Previously, he worked at Wells Fargo Securities covering the Retail and Connected Commerce sectors and was an investor at Coller Capital and MacAndrews & Forbes. Mr. Mell has over 20 years of investment banking, advisory and investing experience, including extensive M&A and capital markets transactions in North America. He has advised on over $45 billion of M&A transaction value over his career. In 2018, Mr. Mell was named an Emerging Leader by The M&A Advisor and won the Inaugural Progressive Grocer GenNext award. He is a graduate of Georgetown University with a BBA in Finance and International Business.

Mr. Mell stated, “With its strong reputation, talented colleagues and global reach, I am excited to join Rothschild & Co and utilize my experience and relationships to benefit the firm’s clients and platform. I look forward to working with colleagues across the firm to expand the industry-leading Consumer Retail franchise.”

This announcement follows Rothschild & Co’s recent hiring of Jaime Arrastia as a Managing Director and Vice Chairman in North America, adding two experienced senior advisors to further bolster the firm’s Consumer Retail sector.
