Madeleine's story
Madeleine joined Rothschild & Co’s Wealth Management office in London as an Apprentice. After six months of rotating teams, she enrolled in a Level 3 Apprenticeship alongside working within our Operational Risk Team. This has allowed her to gain industry experience whilst also studying for her qualification.
"My name is Madeleine and I’m a Wealth Management Apprentice. I have been at Rothschild & Co for just over a year now.
The main motivation for me to choose an Apprenticeship was that I think it is so valuable to be able to learn and earn at the same time. Plus, all the other amazing opportunities that come with it – such as networking, and I’ve been on loads of courses which is really helpful.
Some of the courses I’ve been privileged enough to go on during my Apprenticeship include an excel training course, a business writing skills course, plus I just did a networking day where I got to meet loads of different Apprentices from all different firms.
I would encourage someone to join Rothschild & Co because the opportunities are endless."
I think starting your career through an Apprenticeship gives you more opportunities than otherwise. Personally I found it quite challenging to balance my work and studying because normally I’m so engrossed in my work. But I do find when I can sit down and study, it really complements the work I’m doing.
The Apprenticeship has set me up for my career amazingly because I have just met so many different people, which has really helped me in my role now, knowing them already and the skills I have picked up along the way have been invaluable.
I would encourage someone to join Rothschild & Co because its just got such a good culture here and everyone is so welcoming and lovely, and the opportunities are endless.
