About me
I joined Rothschild & Co in 2015 as an Associate within the Five Arrows Credit Solutions team (FACS). The FACS team is part of Merchant Banking which is the investment arm of the Rothschild & Co group. Specifically, my team provides junior debt financing solutions to mid-market European businesses.

Why I joined
The exciting opportunity to be part of a new and growing team within an established organisation - creating a unique position to benefit from significant cross-synergies.

What is great about my job
Engaging with senior managers and experts across a variety of industries, evaluating new business models, as well as being surrounded by smart and talented individuals.

The skills I need
Genuine interest in learning about businesses, an analytical mind-set, great communication skills and the ability to build relationships.

My take on the culture
Very friendly and collegial; teams are relatively small here so you are able to establish strong relationships with each member. You are also provided with a degree of autonomy and are encouraged to share your thoughts and ideas from the very beginning. Nonetheless, this is balanced with the right amount of guidance and support from seniors and peers, which really helps you to maximise your learning potential.

The application and interview process

It was a condensed and efficient process where I was able to meet almost all members of the team prior to signing my contract. There were several rounds of interviews testing both quantitative and qualitative skills, as well as a take-home case study.

My day
The phrase “no two days are the same” may be overused, but it truly applies here given the deal-centric nature of this job. Generally speaking, tasks will include attending management meetings, conducting expert calls, assembling investment committee papers and monitoring portfolio reporting.

Outside work
Travelling, keeping fit, cooking and baking
