Overview

A six-month paid internship is available with our bank in Guernsey to support our IT team.

The role will offer a mix of responsibilities including maintaining software, hardware and other systems, technical support and taking care of routine daily tasks. We will offer you the chance to improve your coding skills, and there is potential to assist in the development of some of the apps and websites used internally. 

Key technologies used within the Guernsey bank are VB.Net, SQL, ASP.Net, HTML and CSS and there will be opportunity to learn and develop your skills in all these areas. This diverse role will give you the chance to gain hands-on experience in an IT position and liaise with members of different departments across the bank and would be a good introduction for those considering a career in the financial services or digital sectors.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in all areas of IT as required, both hardware and software
  • Maintain systems
  • Provide technical support to users
  • Run scripts and daily procedures
  • Contribute to development of software to be used internally
  • Adopt open communication and positive working relationships with staff

Experience, Skills and Competencies Required:

  • Strong academic background
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Be able to adapt and respond promptly
  • Ability to work independently and take a high level of responsibility for your own work
  • Readiness to learn quickly and apply new skills
  • Familiarity with at least one programming language and knowledge of SQL a strong plus
  • Experience with IT infrastructure such as building PCs and configuring systems would also be helpful
